\nTry this simple 2-step strategy that builds participation instead of demanding it.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Notice what helps or hinders participation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u2714 Awareness<\/strong> \u2013 Who tends to hold back, and why? Is it a confidence issue or lack of interest?
\n\u2714 Environment<\/strong> \u2013 Are only the \u201cstrong\u201d students speaking up? Does your classroom make space for spontaneous expression?
\n\u2714 Skills<\/strong> \u2013 Do all students have the language tools they need to express themselves? Do they feel confident in what they\u2019re saying?<\/p>\n

Step 2: Make participation easy and natural<\/strong><\/h3>\n
