A father came to register his adorable little girl for ESL lessons. With her big sparkling eyes, flowing hair, and delicate frame adorned with glasses, she resembled the protagonist from the captivating story ‘You Have A Visitor.’ Excitedly, I couldn’t resist mentioning, ‘Do you know, my dear, that you are the star of your very own fairy tale?’ Without delay, I opened the screen and narrated the enchanting tale to her with the most engaging voice.

At first, she was even more timid than the little girl in the fairy tale. Her father glanced at the screen and then back at his daughter, seemingly captivated by the resemblance. It was striking. As I delved into the story, she stopped fixating on the floor. I activated the projector in my office, intending to immerse her in the fairy tale with every resource available. And it worked! Her mouth half-opened, and her eyes widened in awe as I unveiled the deeper meaning behind fear. “Really?” she whispered. “I had no idea…”

“It’s truly remarkable how effortlessly and profoundly a child can comprehend a story,” her father chimed in. “And even an adult!” I playfully added. Then, I showcased the deck of cards adorned with images from the story, and we engaged in one of the games. Afterwards, I fetched the box with assorted materials and asked the little one to pick something and create based on the activity prompts. “But everything here is extraordinary,” her father exclaimed. “I wish we had these resources in Greek so that I could share this experience with her. These activities can keep us entertained for a long time. We could do something new every day, even during car rides. It would be an amazing way for her to open up about her fears… I’d be learning right alongside her! I had no idea about all of this.”

How many parents like this could there possibly be? Parents who are eager to connect with their children, to teach through learning, and to learn through teaching? This insightful father posed that question. “You know, many parents want to do this, but they struggle to find the right resources. By spreading the word about your translations into Greek, more parents will become aware. And if teachers get hold of this too, they can incorporate it into their classrooms in Greek.”

And here I am, reaching out to you through email, sharing all the details firsthand. I will also upload this valuable material on www.reschool.gr, with the hope that not only teachers but also parents in search of such content will discover it. I’m confident there are countless parents out there who are eager to engage with these resources!
